Asaf Romirowsky
Considering I have family in Israel and my grandparents are extremely interested with all the going-ons over there, I hear many opinions and criticisms concerning the Israli-Palestinian relationship. That's not to say I am very knowledgable about the subject, though, because everything I hear is very one sided and selective considering my grandparents really only hear what they want to. Thus, I was interested in Mr. Romirowsky's lecture on the relationship between Israel and Palestine and what authority's govern them. First, I was unaware that Palestine was not a united front but rather very segregated and broken up. It was interesting to learn that Palestinians clash with Israelis concerning secularism and religiosity, but also clash with one another on some of these issues as well. In fact, Mr. Romirowsky noted that the groups do not even see eye to eye on religious or philosophical level, but that they have been able to establish Israel and America as their biggest, fiercest enemies. I cannot fathom the idea of actually splitting the area into three separate states, between Israel, Gaza, and the West Bank. As far as I can tell, though it may help stabilize some forms of government, it would only create increased probability of war.
